State Lines, Towns and 5k ft Mountains
Week two has been filled with resupply in some lovely small towns. Both Clayton, GA, and Franklin, NC, are hiker-friendly towns. From free rides and shuttles to free local beer, I enjoyed delicious local eats, including a fancy milkshake, wings, and a steak.
The community of hikers is lovely and diverse, and I continue to make new friends and get to know these good people as we journey in the same direction. Some hail from Australia, London, Florida, Alabama, and Vermont, to list a few.
My body is beginning to acclimate to miles, and they’re starting to come easier. Furthermore, the desire to pare and lighten my load so I can go faster is growing daily.
